PS5 Pro Still Set for 2024 Release, State of Play Scheduled for September

Jeff Grubb has provided the latest updates on Sony’s plans. On his Game Mess Mornings show, the reliable Giant Bomb contributor mentioned that the PS5 Pro is still on track for release before the year ends. Additionally, we might see a State of Play event in just a few weeks.

In the video above, Grubb discusses these topics, addressing the claim that the PS5 Pro is an “open secret” among developers at Gamescom. He asserts that the upgraded console is still expected in 2024, stating, “Last I heard, [PS5 Pro] is still coming out this year.”

Grubb also mentions hearing more recently about an upcoming State of Play event, not a Showcase, which is anticipated to go live by the end of September. He speculates that the PS5 Pro could be featured in this event, questioning, “Where else would it be?”

While the PS5 Pro hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, rumors and leaks about the enhanced console have been circulating for some time. Moreover, there’s been growing anticipation about a PlayStation presentation since the last State of Play in May. Given Grubb’s reliability and the ongoing speculation, it’s likely that he’s accurate on both counts.
